If your building’s central hot water system uses gas, the cost of the gas used to heat the water may form part of your hot water usage or heating charge.

Your hot water meter generally measures the volume of hot water delivered to your premises. It does not directly measure the amount of gas used to heat your individual water supply. Your charge is calculated using your metered hot water usage and the rate or calculation method applying at your building.

If the central system uses electricity instead of gas, your charge will reflect the applicable electric hot water arrangement.

Depending on the arrangements at your building, a separately identified daily supply or service charge may also apply. Where permitted under the applicable agreement and regulatory requirements, this charge may contribute to the costs of providing, operating or maintaining the centralised hot water service.

Not every charge applies at every building. Your bill will show the usage, rates and charges applying to your premises.
