Depending on your location and the arrangements at your premises, you may be able to purchase electricity from another authorised retailer.
Changing retailer within an embedded network can be more complex than changing retailer at a standard connection. Not every retailer offers plans to embedded-network customers.
What should I do?
Contact the electricity retailer you would like to move to.
Tell them that your premises is within an embedded network.
Ask whether they can offer you an energy-only electricity plan.
Provide your NMI if one has already been allocated. If you do not have an individual NMI, tell the retailer.
If the retailer agrees to supply you, it will generally work with the embedded network manager or operator to arrange the transfer and any necessary metering requirements.
Do not close your existing Active Utilities or Savant Energy account until the transfer has been confirmed. You remain responsible for electricity used and other applicable charges until the transfer is completed.
What happens after I change retailer?
Changing retailer does not usually remove your premises from the embedded network.
Depending on the arrangements at your site:
your new retailer may bill you for electricity usage;
Active Utilities, Savant Energy or the embedded network operator may continue to bill you separately for network charges or other services; or
your new retailer may include both energy and network charges under an agreed billing arrangement.
Ask the new retailer to explain what it will charge and check whether you will receive a separate bill for embedded-network charges before accepting an offer.
Metering changes or other costs may also apply.
